Welcome to Vermont

(From our Series Unspoken Rules of Being a New Englander)

Welcome to Vermont, flatlanders

Please take notice of our no trespassing signs.

We're not keen on getting to know people

and the Dollar General doesn't make signs that say,

 Leave me alone.

I've taken the liberty to mark our property boundary with piano wire.

You won't see it,

but if you trespass, you'll definitely find it.

I smoke meats in an old barrel while target practicing from 6:45am until dark.

 But that's my business.

You can call the local cop but he's my nephew and he's usually here with me.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

You won't get any answers,

but we'll all know what you're up to.

Donna Lauzon is a 6th generation Vermonter who, with mixed feelings, is living in the southwest corner of the state.
